DANA ... a notebook substitute??
Personally ...... I don't think so.
Substitute for a "paper" notebook yes ... but not notebook computers. As I see it, notebook computers are portable version of the desktop "Personal Computer" or PC. The notebook computers are supposed to accomplish what the PC can do whilst being small and portable.
The DANA, in my opinion is somewhere between a Palm PDA and a computer notebook. It is Palm PDA the size of a notebook. At its introductory price of US$ 399.00 I would think it will be just that .... a PalmOS PDA with built-in full size keyboard and a larger dispaly.
(a memo viewed on the DANA 160x560 display)
I would imagine this as a standard tool at school ... for taking (typing) notes during classes, tackling assignments, reading "text books" ...etc. Kind of like the old days my father used to tell stories about, the time when he went to school with a chalk slate (or chalk board) and a duster, and how he had to wipe the slate clean (perhaps this is how the expression came to be) when the next teacher came in for a different subject.
Designed to target the "education segment" of the market, I would thing it is well thought of. It is more feasable to use the DANA in class rooms rather than haviing PCs on every desks. It is inexpensive, durable, expandable with its 2 SD/MMC expansion slots and running "simple" on PalmOS, its easy for everyone o use.
And.... I like the "minimalist" design of the DANA.
