Two Sony Clies, a Rumoured Zire31 and Gossip of a Tungsten|E2
Well ... it looks like Sony will beat PalmOne again with new PDAs. I think in response to the Zire71 price reduction, Sony beefed up their mid range TJ series to include a VGA camera and built-in wi-fi ...
Brighthand reported that the FCC already approved the new Clie TJ-27 and TJ-37, so we'd see these two new babies very soon.
Sony already has the wi-fi enabled Clie UX50 in the market and now is setting the wi-fi standard in a lower range PDA ... a very positive addition.
Like usual, Sony will come up with 2 models one is a "full" version (the TJ-37) and the other a budget stripped down version (TJ-27). There were no details on the pricing of these two new Clies yet, but I think that it ould be where the current TJ series pricing would be ....
Here are some details of the TJ-27 and TJ-37;
- TJ27 and the TJ37 will run Palm OS 5.2.
- use a Motorola i.MXL processor (speed is not yet known).
- 32 MB of RAM, 23 MB available to the user, the rest will be used for Heap Memory.
- VGA 640x480 pixel camera for still pictures only, no video.
- 320x320 colour screen
- The TJ-37 will have built-in wi-fi and and can play MP3 music
News in the palmOne camp is not that quiet either, there were rumours of a new Zire31 and a Tungsten|E2.
Also, from ,Brighthand, details of the rumoured palmOne PDAs are:-
PalmOne Zire31
- 160x160 colour display
- SD expandion slot (not known if it is SDIO or not)
- 200 Mhz Intel CPU
- 16 MB of RAM
- USB connector
PalmOne Tungsten|E2
- 320x480 colour display
- SD expandion slot
- Bluetooth
Both rumoured palmOne PDAs are expected to come running OS5.
I would think so as well. I expect the OS 6 models will come later in the year and will normally be introduced in the "flagship" model first before being used in other models.
Well, these are just rumours and I am just speculating based on the rumours ... not a very good thing to do :P
