SanDisk Releases WiFi Memory SD Combo Card
Palminfocenter reported about SanDisk releasing an SD Wifi card with built in 256MB Flash memory. This is good. Users with PDA having one SDIO slot can still use the WiFi card and still have lots of MBs for storage space.
Specifications as reported by Palminfocenter:
"The SD Combination card ships with consumer and enterprise-grade security solutions, including WEP, 802.1x, PSK and WPA on the Windows CE platform. It uses Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum (DSSS) Wireless LAN technology to provide bandwidths of up to 11Mbps and ranges of up to 800 feet depending on environment. The low-power device is designed to minimize battery drain, a key consideration for handheld computer users."
SanDisk announced that the SD WiFi/Memory combo would be on retail shelves within 30 days. And expected to retail for USD129. That comes to RM490 at 3.80 exchange rate. The pricing is not bad at all. With a regular 256MD SD selling roughly at RM300, the WiFi part cost about RM200 ... not bad indeed ...
Well, with the PalmOS driver for its SD WiFi Card delayed several times on so many months. I wonder if SanDisk can deliver within its target period. Palminfocenter also highlighted that the actual release date for the PalmOS drivers is still a blur.
The wait continues!
