Nokia Communicator 9500 .... Instead of 9310

Well, it is different from what I expected. I thought the communicator would look like the image I received recently. The first thing that comes to mind when I saw this ... it still look like a brick (with smooth edges). The keyboard looks cool though, and I see a navigation button. This could mean no touch screen :(

Looks like Nokia did away with the antenna, which makes the 9500 very PDAish and look less as a mobile phone. Hopefully, without the antenna, phone signal or reception is not compromised.

Infosync has a full write-up on this upcoming communicator.

Here are some specs I got from i-Symbian.com:

-Symbian Operating System 7.0S Platform with J2ME Personal Profile environment
-In-built VGA camera & Multimedia messaging
-Bluetooth audio and data support
-USB connectivity (Nokia Connectivity Cable DKU-2)
-80 MB of free user memory
-Two color (up to 65k colors) displays with
-640x200 pixels, Series 80 User Interface

-E-mail support: POP3, IMAP,
-Email: IMAP4, POP3, SMTP, SyncML
-Security: SSL/TLS, Ipsec VPN
-Browsing: HTML/XHTML, HTML 4.01, JavaScript 1.3
