palmOne Announces the Tungsten T5
My last post was a month ago and that's how long the T5 "rumours" have been around .... Now, the cat is out of the bag.
Although it doesn't look at all like the picture I previously posted, This new T5 is very much welcomed ... The official release date is Nov 3, 2004. I month from today.
Here's a rundown of the specs I got from BargainPDA.com:

Dimensions: 4.76" x 3.08" x 0.61"
Weight: 5.1 ounces

Good specs here to my standards. The only thing missing from my wishlist is the integrated WiFi. But at a release price of US$399 (what T3 was selling at), I am not complaining ....

Tungsten T5 ... We Have A Picture
BargainPDA has news and a low quality picture of the upcoming PalmOne's Tungsten T5 ...looks like the real deal.
Some specification si the T5 as well:
- 520 MHz PXA270 XScale processor,
- 128 MB RAM,
- 320 x 480 screen,
- Bluetooth,
- WiFi,
- high capacity battery,
- one SDIO slot,
- Palm OS Cobalt,
And a new form-factor. The T5 does away with the slider and goes back to the "classic" 4 buttons arrangement and the 5 way directional pad. It resembles the O2 XDAII I think.
No news on the release date and pricing yet, but I'll bo on a very close watch. Just reading the specs makes me drool already :P
More info on the T5 news at 1src
1src forum also brought up and old image posted at PIC long time ago on a rumoured Tungsten|CV.
It looks like Palmone took this desgn for the Tungsten|T5

Siemens/Blackberry Phone
It's the Siemen SK65....
The Register announced the launched another design masterpiece from Siemens (at least in my opinion). On the inside, RIM Blackberry comm Suite is integrated with the mobile phone.
"The SK65 offers the full Blackberry application environment," RIM co-CEO Jim Balsillie told us. "It's not just the communications stack."
The back of the phone swivels to reveal a full QWERTY keyboard for SMS and other data entry. If you ask me this looks more stylish than the original blackberry design. :)
Malaysia will not be seeing this in its markets ... just like the previos Blackberrys.
Just a thought here ... Could the Blackberry compete with the Symbian, Palm and Mirosoft based smartphones outside the US? Hmmmm........

More specifications:

- Processor: 200-MHz Motorola DragonBall MXL
- Unit size (WxHxD)/weight: 2.8" x 5.0" x 0.8" / 5.2 oz.
- Display information: 320x320-pixel, transflective TFT with 16-bit, color-rich display; bright white LED backlight; dedicated Graffiti writing area; and usable screen area of 3.0" (diagonal)
- Internal Memory: 32 MB SDRAM

This gadget is expected to hit the shelves (in the US at least) in August.

1GB SD Card for my Tungsten T3
I ordered a larger capacity SD card for my T3. 1GB.
Currently I have 2 cards, a 256MB SD for data storage and backups and another 128MB card for MP3. I'll check out the read/write speed of the 1Gig card with my T3 and post my findings here. If it does not score too well, I'll use the card for my digital camera instead.
I should be getting the card soon.
