Internet ... GPRS ... Bluetooth
Today marks 2 weeks of me using wireless internet connection.
I bought a bluetooth USB adapter about a month ago to set up a BT network at home for my TungstenT3 and my PC. Then I found out I could pair my SonyEricsson HBH35, BT headset to my PC and use it to listen to MP3 (it's monoaural, but it works). I then set up my Sony Ericsson T68i mobile phone to act as a modem and get connected to the internet via the GPRS network. I found out the GPRS internet connection is almost twice as fast as my dial-up. So, I sign-up with DiGi telecoms, the unlimited data transfer plan for RM99.00.
Heheheh .... all you can eat "data transfer" for a flat rate of RM99.00
No more 56K land line dial-up for me.
My next step is to get a new mobile that is GPRS/EDGE(Enhanced Data Rates for Global Evolution) and use this 2.7G technology for wireless connectivety. Digi claims a 'best effort' EDGE connectivity of 380kbps. I know it's not broadband but now, if I have my mobile phone with me, and of course my notebook, I can just sit anywhere and that is my "HOTSPOT" :)
Here's a screenshot of a bandwidth speedtest using GPRS connection
... 68kbps connection, not bad eh ...
