infoSync : More details on Garmin Palm OS device
A friend of mine, Dr. Azmi, is into this GPS thingy ...... Presently he is tinkering with a combination of his Sony Clie T615 and a Garmin GPS unit to get around places. You can read his wriitings here. He'd be happy to get this toy.
I've read somewhere before that Garmin licensed the Palm OS and taken quite some time to produce a 2-in-1 PDA/GPS hand held. Infosync thinks so too.
Anyways, I don't thimk Garmin is overdue with this device just a little "late". As far as I know, this is the first PDA with a built-in GPS ..... Or is it a GPS with PDA fuction ... Well, I don't thing I'd be wrong saying both.
Snippet from the report:
"The general design would tend to indicate that it is indeed a Palm OS device. It includes a virtual handwriting area, although whether it uses the HandEra virtual Graffiti, Sony virtual Graffiti, or some proprietary virtual Graffiti system is unknown. Unconfirmed reports also suggest that it is 320x480 screen using the new PalmSource High-Density screen API. The PalmSource API does not have a virtual Graffiti system defined, but various systems for it can be added. Garmin has previously stated that it had selected the Motorola Dragonball MXL, an ARM-based processor, for a Palm OS device, which would imply Palm OS 5."
