Coming Soon: Palm OS 5.3
There was this discussion in Pocketloft Community Discussion Forum about the upcoming Palm OS update ... the 5.3. The news is also hightlighted bt Brighthand.
The rumour has been that the OS6 would be available in October, but now, we have the 5.3 instead. 
At the monent the 5.3 is available to developers only and from my reading the OS 5.3 now supports Virtual Grafitti and multiple screen resolutions. With 5.3 we will be seeing support for 160x220 pixels display as well as QVGA 240x320 and 320x480 ... that's great. It took Palm (now palmOne) a while to implement virtual grafitti, but it looks like it could be a new standars for PalmOS PDAs. HandEra has made virtual Grafitti with OS3.5 and Sony followed suit when it introduced the NR70V running OS 4.0.
My personal view with this news is that OS 6 might come a little later than expected. I think the 5.3 is buying a little time before the actual OS6 rolls out and be made available on new devices. posted by Mohd Nazley Fadhley at 12:33 PM | permalink |
