Tungsten|E .... Reviewed

The cat is out of the box ... Tungsten E that is.
The budget $200 (RM760) Tungsten E is out in the open before the official announcement from palmOne. I was not expecting it until October, and this was a pleasant surprise. At this price, it will be competing with the Clie PEG-ST35 I blogged about earlier. From what I read this is almost a Zire71 without the camera packed into a slim m5xx style form factor a lot of users were asking for.
Why I say almost .... the T|E has no universal connector. It uses a USB connector, similar to the ones on the $99, 2MB, white Zire. What a bummer. I thought Palm announced long ago that their models would come with the universal connector(UC). Why the change? Could it be its cheaper it build a USB connector compared to the UC?
The Tungsten model, being an "Enterprise" model comes with Documents to Go but has no mention on which version. I really hope it's the latest version, version 6.004. Being able to handle native MSOffice format is great! But I digress.
Some quick specs I spotted:-
- 32 MB of RAM (28.3 actual available)
- SD slot with SDIO support
- Stereo Headphone
- Arm Processor
- Palm OS v5.2.1
- USB cable and AC Adapter
- 320 x 320 display
