Samsung NEXio S160
I don't know if this is "old" news or what. I missed the news on this PDA by Samsung. Maybe because it's not PalmOS ;-) Jokes aside, the Samsung NEXio S160 the first Microsoft .NET PDA I came across with. I like the hardware design and the specifications ... well, very impressive. Specifications OS Microsoft Windows CE .NET (4.1) CPU Intel PXA250 400MHz Display 5 inch Transflective WVGA TFT LCD(800*480, 64k color) Memory - Flash ROM 64MB(NAND type) - SDRAM 128MB Wireless Comm. Built-in WLAN(802.11b) Module, Wi-Fi Certified Interface CF Type ll Card Slot USB docking port (PC sync.,VGA-out, Power charging) Battery Li-polymer 1500mAh (rechargeable) Key Button 5-Way key for easy navigation (4 directional + 1 action) 3 Programmable Hot Keys Hold switch Cover Leather cover Keyboard (Optional) Size 155 x 91 x 13 mm (w/ Leather Cover) Weight 250 g (include Battery & Leather Cover) One thing missing in the specs is an IR port. So There's no way of coupling the NEXio S160 with an IR mobile phone to get connected to the internet. Kind of defeats the purpose of the ".NET" operating system doesn't it. Another point I'd like to point out is its single CF expansion slots. Most new PDAs (especially PocketPC) adopt a CF and SD/MMC expansion slot. Perhaps Samsung thinks that having a 128SDRAM is enough and the CF is for other CF add-ons like GPS module. One major turnoff, at least for me, is the price ... a whopping HKD7,180. That's about USD920 or RM3,500. At that price I would invest in a TabletPC. I found a review of this model at Mobilemag.com .
