PalmInfocenter.com: Garmin Begins Shipping the iQue 3600

I blogged about this Garmin PDA/GPS unit sometime in December 2002, and they sure took thier time perfecting this device. Only recently that Palminfocenter, Brighthand and other PDA/Tech gadget related sites reported the shipment of the iQue3600. Forbes.com did a test-drive of the iQue3600, and they seem to like it.

The features as taken fron iQue3600 site is as follows:-
  • Powerful 200 MHz processor powering Palm OS 5
  • Integrated Que technology, with Garmin GPS and mapping software
  • Flip-up integrated GPS patch antenna can be positioned for optimal reception
  • Speaker for voice-guidance commands, MP3 player, and message playback
  • Voice recorder for making memos, quick notes, and messages on the fly
  • Rechargeable internal Lithium-ion battery (charges in cradle or while connected to adapter)
  • Built-in 32 MB of memory for downloading map data and other Palm OS-compatible software
  • New ARM processor enhances battery life, screen redraw, graphics, and audio
  • SD expansion slot for flexible memory storage and additional software
  • Unit size: 2.8"W x 5"H x .8"D (72 x 128 x 20.3 mm)
  • Display: 2.16" x 3.24" (54 x 81 mm), 320 x 480 pixel, high-resolution, color display
  • Applications: Astraware Game Pack*, powerOne Personal Calculator, Documents to Go by DataViz*, DataViz Mail*, Palm Reader, StarCaddy*, SplashWallet*, Vindigo*, and WorldMate*

The form factor
... a 320x480 res display with virtual grafitti area, and a non clam-shell design, I like
... but a 20mm PDA is a little to big for the pocket.
Based on the dimensions given, physical size is almost like an NX series Clie but with a thickness of 0.8 inches (20mm) the iQue3600 is a little on the thick side. I would think that the built in GPS receiver adds the bulk of his device.

Hmm ..if only they could make it thinner.

The Garmin iQue3600 is selling at USD 589.00.

p/s:
drtamil ... want to get this one?
No camera like the ClieNZ90 but you don't have to carry your e-trex with your T615 anymore :)
